Mia Maisy

My second baby was breech, and whilst I encountered the hospital opposition and ignorance that the only way to birth a baby in breech position was c-section, I was unbelievably fortunate to have two wonderful midwives who were totally supportive.  Both had only delivered one breech, a footling too, but were completely comfortable to listen to me and my strong belief that I could do it.

We did it at home, in water. I couldn't imagine if I had not been 'allowed' to do it my way.  In fact throughout the last 6 weeks (she turned at 34 weeks) I was terrified that I would feel such pressure that I would succumb and go to hospital, knowing full well what would happen once I was there.

Mia's birth was so wonderful and special, that to not allow mothers this option, this choice, this right to birth naturally is absolutely disrespectful.

I would love to add my birth story to the website, to show that breech birth is not something to be feared and is not only possible but safe when we are able to make totally informed and knowledgeable decisions.
